David...
Music to me is the beginning of the solution to all my problems... Taking a long ride in the car blasting some Earth, Wind & Fire has set my mind straight many of times when battling adverse contemplations. Even playing music after a hard day at work can sooth the savage beast. Who remembers spinning special albums whenever you got your girl or guy alone and were able to at least snuggle. Some of them can just bring back memories of that first love, first kiss or first wet grind.... What were your go to jams? A few of mine were:
- Reasons - EWF
- I Write A Song - EWF
- Let's Love - Ohio Players
- Use Me - Bill Withers
- Between the Sheets - Isley Brothers
- If I Ever Fall In Love - Shai
- Tony, Tony Tone - It Never Rains In Southern California
- Tony, Tony Tone - Anniversary
- Boogie Nights - Heatwave
- Always and Forever - Heatwave
Shanita....
Music soothes not just the savage beast but the broken hearted. Music motivates, sets the mood and enervates. It can also torture. I remember being out all night coming home at 5 a.m. (when I lived at home) and being awakened to GAP Band's Burn Rubber at 7 a.m. by my dad who loved to play music full blast...and he particularly like playing the same song over and over...so bumpa bumpa bumpa...the opening notes played full blast 30 times. I could have killed at that moment.
My life actually has a sound track:
My first heartbreak...Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?...Culture Club
Betrayed by a friend...Jealousy by Culture Club
Leaving my son's father...Karen White's Superwoman
Stressed the first year of law school...The Message by Grand Master Flash and the Furious five
My first love....Teddy Pendergrass' Turn Out the Lights
When I'm dealing with stress now...Jay Z's Dirt of Your Shoulder
When my students are driving me crazy...DMX's Party Up
When I first started dating and knew not to "give in"...EW&F's Reasons
And the list goes on....Ahhhh music!
David....
Now my bumpa music is going to be anything fast by the Gap Band. I also liked Burn Rubber. I remember it doing my high school days.. and still to this day it gets and keeps me going.... My broken heart song list is almost non-existent.... soothing it is more like when I just have to jam out. I.e. Skin Tight - Ohio Players or
