Shanita....
Sometimes we get caught up with acronyms and initials….you know BA, BS, MA, JD, MD or REP, PEP, BMW (Real Earning Power, Potential Earning Power, and the biggie--Black Man Working). Your family or you work hard to get an education and to be awarded initials, maybe a BA, a BS or in my case a BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) and a JD (Juris Doctor). You work hard for these initials and when you get them you look for a partner who is has similar initials.
This process is akin to seeking parity and looking for someone with PEP or REP to form a family and build a family together. I have found some women chose their partners based upon these initials alone...and sometimes require additional pedigrees: Jack and Jill affiliations, ivy league or HBCU designations, fraternity or sorority affiliations, maybe even having a summer house or summering tradition in Martha's Vineyard or Sag Harbor. These are petty bourgeois conceits, however at our core we may not admit we want them. I have seen women with all of the accoutrements attach themselves to men who will suffice in the pedigree area but whom they do not really love. They are only with the person because the person is suitable and the "kind" of person they should marry. At 50 some of these concerns are replaced by the pursuit of a person with pure earning power. They are solely focused on the balance sheet. Sometimes impeccably credentialed men, on the other hand, pursue only beautiful women they deem suitable for their perceived station. They will often trade in their older model for a younger, brighter version every few years.. . .and the only requirement is a perfectly crafted (either born or bought) physique and face.
In both cases its offensive.....

Can't I love the manager at McDonald's? Growing up a doctor's kid, I learned early in life how people are hung up on initials or pedigrees. My dad was pretty simple about all of that. I think I learned my simplicity in that arena from him. Vernon was a great teacher of life.
Once again, keep it simply simple stupid....
